Newark, Alameda County Get $40M For Infrastructure Projects (2024)

The California Transportation Committee has awarded more than $3.1 billion to help rebuild or upgrade infrastructure across the state.

The money is part of billions being allocated by the California Transportation Commission for Caltrans projects that are designed to improve safety, reliability, and sustainability along essential travel corridors.

"These state and federal investments will continue to allow Caltrans to rebuild our transportation system so that it is more climate-change resilient, reduces pollution and travel times, and improves goods movement," said Tony Tavares, the Caltrans director. "These projects will have a direct, positive impact on every Californian. Commuters, truckers, and visitors will all benefit from more reliable roadways and a safer transportation network.

The CTC funding includes nearly $1.8 billion in federal infrastructure funds and $200 million in funds from the state Road Repair and Accountability Act, passed in 2017.

Here is where the money is headed in Alameda County and the rest of the Bay Area:

MARIN COUNTY
• $25.5M in allocations for work on State Route 1 near Point Reyes Station and
Olema and near Tomales.
• $13M in allocations for Redwood Boulevard slide repair near US-101.
• $4.2M in SB1 allocations for the Tamalpais Drive overcrossing in Corte Madera.
• $1.9M in allocations for SR-1 road work near Marshall, just south of Clark Road.

NAPA COUNTY
• $4.9M in allocations to install rumble strips to improve safety in the county.
• $2M in allocations for air pavement, replace drainage systems and upgrade
guardrail near the city of Napa.

SANTA CLARA COUNTY
• $32M in allocations to upgrade guardrail, transition railing, and end treatments to
current standard.
• $14.6M in allocations to upgrade pump plants and increase storm water storage
at the Alum Rock pump plant.
• $8.3M in allocations for work in the cities of Santa Clara and Palo Alto.
• $4.3M for slipout work on SR-130 near San Jose.

SAN MATEO COUNTY
• $52.5M in allocations to rehabilitate pavement of the mainline and upgrade the
concrete median barrier.
• $10M in allocations to deploy equipment, such as an interconnected traffic signal
systems, closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras, and vehicle detection
systems on state routes.
• $9.9M in allocations for ITS improvements in Daly City, Brisbane, and Colma.
• $7.3M to repair sinhole damage and reconstruct slopes along SR-35.
• $3.9M in allocations to upgrade to upgrade and reposition traffic signals, and
upgrade facilities to Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards to improve
safety.
• $5.3M to for sinkhole repair work on SR-92 near the city of San Mateo.
• $1.7M for slope and lined ditch work along SR-1 in Pacifica.
• 1.4M for slope and retaining wall work on SR-84 near Woodside.
• $1M for slope and culvert repair near Pacifica on SR-1.

SOLANO COUNTY
• $12.7M in allocations to apply polyester concrete overlay to bridge decks in and
near Fairfield, Vacaville and Dixon.
• $11.9M in allocations gto apply polyester concrete overlay to bridge deck,
replace joint seals, and cold plane asphalt concrete pavement on bridge
approaches and departure slabs in Vallejo.
• $8.8M to repair Napa River Bridge in Vallejo on SR-37.
• $7.4M in allocations was awarded to achieve statewide National Pollutant
Discharge Elimination Systems.
• $4.3M in allocations for I-680 for slipout repairs in Fairfield.

SONOMA COUNTY
• $30M in allocations in the county for work between the Sonoma County Airport
SMART Station to the town of Windsor.
• $17M in allocations for work on US-101 in the city of Santa Rosa at the US-101/Hearn Avenue interchange/overcrossing.
• $2.1M for erosion and culvert near on SR-1 near Jenner.
• $1.1M for landslide repair near the county line near Calistoga.
• $918,000 in SB1 funds for work near Bodega Bay, Carmet, and Jenner at various locations.
• $468,000 for SRg-116 near Sebastopol for erosion and culvert repair.
