Welcome to live coverage of Leeds United's Championship clash with Portsmouth at Elland Road. Kick-off in West Yorkshire is 12.30pm with team news dropping at 11.30am from both Daniel Farke and John Mousinho.
The Whites return to Elland Road after taking 90 points across last season's 46 matches and falling short of promotion in the play-off final at Wembley. United come into the new campaign on the back of a flawless pre-season which took in five matches and five wins across an array of opposition, culminating in La Liga's Valencia a week ago.
Meanwhile, Portsmouth enter this league table for the first time in 12 years, having clinched the League One title last term with 97 points from their 46 matches. Pompey will be keen to retain the momentum they finished last term with, but starts do not come much tougher than away at the pre-season title favourites.
The two teams last met in West Yorkshire in October 2011. Danny Pugh struck in the 14th minute for a 1-0 home win in the second tier during the season Portsmouth were relegated. Follow the latest from Beren Cross throughout in the blog below.

Farke facing the press here
Daniel Farke's Leeds United press conference is taking place at Elland Road after today's clash with Portsmouth. Follow everything the manager has to say about Saturday lunchtime's match below as we bring you most of the questions and answers in full from the debrief.
Before the match, Farke included two full debutants in the Whites side that starts the season in the Championship for him. Jayden Bogle started at right-back after signing from Sheffield United, while Mateo Joseph finally got his first start in the league, despite arriving from Espanyol in January 2022.
Joe Rodon also started at centre-back as a permanent member of the squad for the first time. Pascal Struijk started his first Leeds game since Boxing Day, alongside Rodon at the back.
The first half saw Leeds start very brightly. They hit the crossbar three times inside seven minutes and then scored from the spot inside 10 through Struijk. Portsmouth would respond, however and led at the break 2-1.
Wilfried Gnonto provided an immediate response after the break with a goal at the near post. Leeds pushed, but couldn't then find a winner. Callum Lang scored a late penalty before Brenden Aaronson then equalised again. Follow everything the manager has to say here.

Player ratings
1 Illan Meslier
Has to stop the first goal. Ball went right through him. Not much he could do about a wonderful strike for the second. Distrbution was sound enough. Still a little bit concerning under high balls. 5
2 Jayden Bogle
Some really good stuff in attack, especially some his passes into the final third from deeper positions. Defending was questionable for the first goal, however. Elias Sorensen was completely unmarked where the right-back should have been. Cannot give the referee a decision to make at the death like that. 5
6 Joe Rodon
One of his poorest games in memory for Leeds. Header and preceding foul played big parts in the second goal, while some of his passing was too rushed and left the team out of shape. 5

Full-time: Whites 3-3 Pompey
What a finish. What a game for the neutral. A lot of questions for Leeds, but they do eventually get there at the final whistle for a draw. Two points dropped.
Defending as to improve hugely.

GOAL - Whites
AARONSOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON!
At the death. Piroe slips him in the box. Great first touch, shifts his weight and then gets the shot off through the crowd of bodies. The only way he can win the crowd back.
Then a massive chance in the 98th to win it! Bogle puts him in, one vs one. Inches wide from 4-3. Everyone on the deck.
90+2minKEY EVENT
GOAL - Pompey
Saydee wins a penalty in the 90th after wrestling with Bogle. Lang steps up and scores in the 92nd. Leeds set to lose on the opening day. So poor.
82minBeren Cross
Chance for Bamford
Becoming quite stressful in the terraces now.
Firpo cross gets a nick, helps Bamford, who then attacks it with his head at the near post. Not far wide.
78minBeren Cross
Struijk booked despite being caught by Saydee
Referee didn't like a challenge from Struijk on Saydee, though the defender was the one left on the turf.
Bamford on for Joseph to much applause from the stadium. A little over 10 minutes to find a winner. Pompey wasting as much time as possible now.
71minBeren Cross
Gnonto carrying the threat as the first set of subs are prepared to come on
The Italian is on the ball and making things happen all the time. Carries the ball, goes by defender, wins fouls, takes shots and sets up team-mates.
Aaronson, with some boos, on for Gnonto. Piroe on for James and Rothwell on for Gruev.
Rutter now wide right, Piroe behind Joseph and Aaronson off the left.
Immediate chance. Bogle overlaps, gets to the byline and crosses. Joseph an inch away at the near post with his head. Any touch would have sent it in.
61minBeren Cross
Rutter finds Gnonto again for another shot on target
Gnonto's run is so good it looks offside. Rutter slips hm in down the left channel, but his shot is from a tight angle and easily saved. Leeds still on top here, but will want that third goal sooner rather than later. Gruev becoming more and more prominent in attacks.
Now Gnonto provides for Rutter. Carries from the left, cuts inside, squares to Rutter, edge of the box. First-time shot, but easily stopped.

Gruev hits the target
Leeds right back at it with total domination since the break. Rutter feeding on that confidence. Takes the ball in the middle third with a dummy to sell the Pompey marker. Carries towards the away box, drifts inside, delays the pass to Firpo. Puts the left-back into the box, first-time cross, no handball.
Gruev, who is visibly trying to join in with more attacks, gets onto the rebound and hits a good shot that Norris has to dive for.
Meanwhile, Ogilvie goes into the book for a late challenge on James. Accepts it without complaint.

GOAL - Whites
GNONTOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Immediate reply from the hosts. Gnonto collects the ball on the touchline and drives inside with no pressure from Pompey. Shaughnessy backs off him, he cuts onto his right foot and drives the ball into the near corner. Roars at the West Stand.
46minKEY EVENT
Second half underway
No changes for either side after the break. Hopefully Farke has got stuck into their heads at the break.
45+3minKEY EVENT
Half-time: Whites 1-2 Pompey
A barnstorming start. Deserved to be two or three in front until the equaliser. After that, Leeds retreated into their shells and have barely come out since. Not good enough and lacking some bravery in places. Rutter trying too hard and losing the ball. James gone quiet, but ultimately the defending and goalkeeping for the goals wasn't good enough.
41minKEY EVENT
GOAL - Pompey
Lang makes it 2-1. Crikey.
Rodon had gone into the book for holding back Lang about 40 yards from goal, which would have been a lot more tolerable had the referee not overlooked a litany of Pompey fouls.
Set-piece is partially cleared by Rodon. Falls for Lang, 25 yards out, takes a touch and unleashes a superb volley beyond Meslier. Big reaction needed. Leeds have generally been poor since the equaliser.
33minBeren Cross
Gnonto hits the target
Leeds improving. Portsmouth getting dirtier with their fouls that aren't being checked by Oliver Langford.
Pack heads backwards without checking and puts Joseph away down the right flank. Follows him, can't deal with him. Striker goes past and Pack can only pull him back by the shorts.
Advantage played. Ball goes left. Gnonto played in, tucks inside and shoots low. Norris boots away for a corner.
30minBeren Cross
Joseph gets a shot on goal
Leeds have not reacted well to the equaliser. Pompey are seeing more of the ball and looking comfortable on it. Leeds seem shakier now and are giving it away far too easily. Their bravery has faded. Rutter's trying too hard.
Thankfully, Gruev momentarily breaks them out of their rut with a rattler on Dozzell in the final third, that gifts the ball to Joseph for a fizzing shot from range. Norris can only parry.
23minKEY EVENT
GOAL - Pompey
Sorensen puts the visitors level.
Leeds never clear their lines or deal with an away attack around their box. Ampadu's challenge on the edge of the box only half-clears the ball. Hosts switch off as Pack finds Sorensen unmarked down the channel. Rifles in. Meslier should do better too.
21minBeren Cross
Leeds in control and need to be greedy
Been a couple of edgy moments where Leeds got caught in possession in their own half, but Pompey did nothing with it. Ampadu got smashed by Ogilvie too, but got up after staying down for a few moments.
In the other direction, Leeds seem to be cutting through the visitors at will. James is getting acres of space to sprint into. The Whites need to be greedy though. They have to find a second and third goal to really assert themselves on this match.
10minKEY EVENT
GOAL - Whites
STRUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUIJK!
From the penalty spot.
What a start from the Whites. Not for the last time this season, James's pace catches a left-back off guard. Ogilvie completely switched off to the possibility of James reaching a through-ball. Saw him late, took him out in the box. Stonewall spot-kick.
Struijk comes forward to take it. Rolls the ball home and sends Norris the wrong way. We know Farke likes him on penalties after a few comments last season. Defender scored from the spot in his last game too, at Preston on Boxing Day.
7minBeren Cross
Crossbar thrice and a yellow card
Leeds have quickly found their rhythm. Bogle drifted inside and took four Pompey players out of the game with a slide-rule pass that put Rutter into the box, unchallenged. Low cross, Gnonto attacks it, but shot is pushed onto the bar by Norris.
Corner comes in, Ampadu meets it at the back post. Header bounces off the turf and up onto the crossbar. Comes out to Firpo, who tries another header, but Norris recovers to gather.
Subsequent play sees Ampadu then fouled on the edge of the Pompey box by Lang, who gets booked. Gruev then bends the resulting free-kick onto the crossbar. Three times inside seven minutes!

Kick-off
We're underway at Elland Road.
Leeds are lined up as you would expect. We had a touching minute's applause for all of those Leeds fans we have lost since the end of last season.
The crowd broke out into 'All Leeds aren't we' too.

Warm-ups are well underway
It's a warm and sunny day at Elland Road. Portsmouth have been well-backed in the away end to our right. They have travelled in numbers and have been loud already.
The starters are going through some shooting drills, apart from Struijk and Rodon who are doing heading drills with sports scientist Tom Robinson.
The mood among the Portsmouth press corps has been fairly pessimistic pre-match. They are just hoping the visitors are not trounced too heavily today.

More on the team news
In Daniel Farke's first Leeds United line-up of the new campaign, Jayden Bogle and Mateo Joseph have been given full league debuts. The German team has stuck with the line-up that won last weekend's summer friendly against Valencia.
It means Bogle and Joe Rodon are the only new signings to be included, though the latter, of course, made his debut last season. Bogle will start at right-back, while Joseph, two-and-a-half years after arriving, finally makes his full league debut.
For the Whites, Georginio Rutter is anticipated to play behind the 20-year-old in a 4-2-3-1 formation. Ilia Gruev is chosen over Joe Rothwell in midfield, while Pascal Struijk has successfully repelled Max Wober's challenge in defence.

The squad are at Elland Road. There are no major surprises among those players who have turned up. Looks like James Debayo is the one missing out on the matchday squad. Charlie Crew and Joe Gelhardt are both with the squad.
