What is the best level to book on a cruise? ›

The most stable part of the ship is its lowest point of gravity, so on a lower deck, at the center. You'd feel a lot less motion here than, say, in a stateroom on the upper decks a long way forward or aft (towards the back of the ship).

What is the best floor to stay on a cruise ship? ›

For passengers looking to enjoy views, especially the scenery in the wake of a ship, we recommend higher decks and the back of the vessel. The higher you pick, the farther you'll see. If you're after views, the best room on a cruise ship will be a balcony cabin at the ship's rear end.

Who should I use to book a cruise? ›

Knowles encouraged travelers to use an adviser who is an expert in the type of trip they are planning, whether a family vacation or a romantic getaway. Many cruise lines also have in-house vacation planners who can help prospective guests navigate the booking process.

What month is the cheapest to take a cruise? ›

What day of the week do cruise prices drop? ›

According to an extensive study that followed price drops in the cruise industry, Thursdays may be the best day to book a cruise. Prices associated with travel are always in flux due to supply and demand, so the prices of a cruise can change daily. Prices could spike on a Wednesday and drop, well, on a Thursday.

What is the best month to go on a cruise? ›

The shoulder months of May, June and September through early October provide a good balance of mild weather and fewer crowds onboard.

Which side of a cruise ship is best? ›

In the Northern Hemisphere, book the starboard side of an eastbound cruise and the port side of a westbound cruise. On the other hand, if you are sensitive to the sun, or want to ensure that your cabin remains cool, consider booking on the side of the ship that is likely to face the nearest pole.

Is it worth it to prepay gratuities on a cruise? ›

Depending on the cruise line and type of room, you should expect a daily charge of $16 to $23 for gratuities. There are a couple of good reasons why you might want to prepay, including getting to spend less during your trip and locking in the current rate.

Where not to get a room on a cruise ship? ›

Not every ship has noise issues, but if it does, those problems tend to originate from public areas rather than other staterooms. Look at deck plans before booking to make sure your cabin isn't above or below the casino, buffet, galley, main theater, bar, gym, or pool deck.

Which location is best on a cruise ship? ›

    Midship cabins

The big allure of a midship cabin is its stability. You won't feel the rocking of the sea in a midship cabin nearly as much as you will in a cabin toward the front or back of a vessel. This is because ships are like teeter-totters. They pitch forward and back around a central axis that barely moves.

Is it better to have a room in the front or back of a cruise ship? ›

The back of the ship tends to be considered the next best cabin position after midships. Whilst the front of the ship gets the most movement the back also does get some. Whilst it's nowhere near as bad as the front of the ship, you may still notice some movement in rough seas.

What area is the #1 destination to travel to on a cruise ship? ›

Caribbean. The Caribbean is the world's most popular cruise destination, and little wonder.
